I have been using vb6 for about 10 years as well (along with about 5 other programs) and I have in the last year changed over to C#. If you need any help converting or moving it over I may be able to help. Just let me know and you can PM me.

rudog: I REALLY like what you've done so far - congratulations on your effort!

I am just guessing at the origin for your calculations but if you change the frame of reference from the links to the axle, you will be able to expand the calculator to include different kinds of springers and telescoping forks. Another suggestion is to develop it in a programming environment that uses a web browser and graphic libraries for the user interface. Since speed is not a big issue, javaScript is relatively easy to program, platform independent and open to a wide variety of commerce models.

Edit: I see I didn't spend enough time with this tool since it does have springers and std forks under the Style Menu - thanks for pointing that out to me rudog.

Now if you add the ability to specify the frame geometry - rear wheel diameter and relation to neck including swing-arm travel if any - you will have the universally perfect frame/fork tool. Maybe that's already in there and I'm just missing it?

You do yourself proud

Rudy,
A brilliant peice of programming you've done right there!
I've installed and been using it on my XP laptop for a while now without problems. Perfect tool! I like the inches/mm switching feature, since I'm on the European continent. Yet still quickly being able to see the corresponding inches.

One tiny little idea might be to clearify the What's What Data Entry fields by using a bit more detailed illustrations, showing what centerlines you are talking about etc.

Again, awesome work! Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
Sander

Oh,
Another small thing that would be handy for me personally is an option to save my settings for later reference.
Thanks again Rudy!
Regards,
Sander

OOPS!! I finaly got caught!

That was a conscious decision from the start to minimise the work and have in reserve as a sales ploy, if I start selling this. Since Tony Foile has the ultimate software that I can't compete with, I opted for less work.

If I do an upgrade those suggestions will definately be in there.

Thanx for the input,
Rudy

Hi Rudy,

It's not a big issue, I just create screendumps now and store them as JPG's. No problem

Cheers!

one suggestion would be to define what the letters stand for next to the entry spaces.. some new guys may not automatically interpret it.. this would make it workable for the beginner..

I'll be more than happy to throw a few dollars your way when you unleash the Python on it and I can use this on my Macintosh workstation. Best of luck and a great idea!
