Oil and oil products are the most important part of modern civilization. It is the back bone of industrial civilization and the developments that we enjoy today. But more than being dependent on oil energy resource, most of us have become addicted to it. The recent oil gas news reports say that the prices of oil and oil products have increased very high when compared to the prices of 2009. If this hike goes on, the oil and gasoline bills of an average man will become so high soon that he will find it hard to survive.
A lot of research programs have been going on to get a lucrative substitute for fossil fuels like oil. The most suitable energy resource, so far discovered, to replace fossil fuels is renewable energy. Renewable energy is generated from various natural resources like sun wind, tides, etc. These energy resources can be naturally replenished and hence won’t run out. Sun is one of the of the major renewable energy source widely used by people around the world. Solar, wind and water energy are the highest used alternative energy resources.
The increase in enthusiasm that the people have about renewable energy resources has created a sort of contentment that our energy demands can be easily met by the wise use of renewable energy resources. Research works are still going on to develop newer technologies for large scale extraction of renewable energy resources.

Bubby...this is a motorcycle Site....you make excellent points with your post....and I'll make one point that you may not be aware of.
There is more oil in this country than the entire middle east combined....oil runs all the economys of the world for the possible exception of brazil which uses cane produced ethanol.

Nah, there'll always be guys like us that have to have the roar and power of a big V-8 or V-twin that no electric motor could satisfy. Even when all the cars are electric, ther will still be gas sold for runnin' in the vintage autos and bikes unless they outlaw them from the road.
Can't see much of a demo derby, tractor pull, or monster truck show goin' on with all that whirrin', buzzin' and ozone smell!
I've seen some neat dragsters that were electric tho.......
One electric S10 I saw on the Speed Channel beat the ET of a hopped up street Vette. It had a GE electric motor under the hood, and 36 motorcycle batteries in the back!

Plenty of diesel equipment that will be in service for a long time. Fossil fuel will be around for quite a while. Too hard to match the power to energy expended ratio yet.

I can tell you know nothing about energy. Electric motorcycles and cars are charged by power plants. What do you think power plants burn.
40% Gas and oil
30% coal
20% nucler
10% wind and solor (wind only blows about 6 hours a day, solar is at peek only 4 hours a day)

It takes about 30% more energy to run an electric car than interal combustion of the same size. (Electric line losses, charger losses and battery storage losses).

Ethenoal takes about 30% more energy to make it than it yelds and it takes away from our food.

BioDiesel is the best but it takes away from our food also. Algae looks good for biodiesel but it will take 25 more years to develop it.

I live this question everyday in my business I can even say a lot about Hydrogen. How do you make Hydrogen? Well you use electricity or a catalytic process with Natural gas that puts off a lot of other byproducts.
What we are doing right now is the best use of resources for the technology we have.

I continue to hear people claim biofuel takes from food corn. This is not true different types are used and my former father inlaw is now planting fields he was paid not to plant. there maybe some cross over by some but not by him

what big jim said.. there wont be any fuel shortages in my lifetime.. bibs was correct in his statements.. i work in the oil industry.. trust me , its there.. prices, supply & demand , its all another political game to fuck the public & keep the working man down.. i've had such an assfull of all the arguements about alternative fuels.. none of which can prove any more effecient than fossil fuels except in the person promoting its mind..

i'll not be fucking up the motors in my bikes with any bullshit fuels nor wasting my expensive deisel trucks motor using some bio- back yard made grease shit..

The main point is we are dependent on using energy for work. We can get it local or remote. By laws we have made it bad to use the natural resources in the US and made it where we have pay a bunch of radical idiots for it. We are not running out of oil/coal! We have not hit peek oil/coal! We have hit peek LAW forcing us to live in grass huts and not travel so that we can be control by the progressive movement. I am all for clean air but all of the laws that have been written for clean air are just to control us. CO2 Plants need it. NOx Plants need it. Ozone is the way nature kills fungus in the air. We breath out (and our motorcycles) CO2, NOx and Ozone. Plants in hale in CO2 and NOx and clean themselves with Ozone. environmentalist please learn about cycles they are natural.
