I took measurements of the general specs needed. Axle plate width where it will bolt to, height from that point to the fender and where the sissy bar would need to bend in above the fender. I then drew out the pattern on my steel fabrication table and heated the steel and bent it around the shape I drew up. Once that is done I move it to the bike and weld it to the bungs I made that I bolted to the axle plates, then just get creative with the torch and steel as needed to finish it up. Here is the finished product after I decided not to do it so tall

dammit !!!! love the bike.. true old school teach .. i really respect what you do in keeping the old look alive..

on that sporty.. the bars look cool , but if i may suggest trying a set of black clubman bars . i'd bet they will compliment your look much more.. though designed for a cafe racer look, when you turn them over looking up, they really make a great look..

i use 1/2 in. stainless round stock on some.. 5/8 in. carbon round stock on others.. a really tall bar would need to be a heavier steel .. alot of flex & leverage for it to bend easier would come into play..
